The Bryleigh Young Memorial Scholarship Program

The deadline for application submissions is May 31, 2021. Applications will not be accepted after this date.

Bryleigh Young was a beautiful inspiration to the world, whose smile inspired others to be kinder and gentler to one and other. She lived her life with love and courage and fought fiercly to overcome battles brought on by Cerebral Palsy. Bryleigh tragically lost her fight at the tender age of five, but her legacy of living each day with a happy heart lives on. Our family was blessed to have been a part of her life and continue to be close friends with her family.

Bryleigh and our daughter Olivia were the best of friends.  Although both girls were non-verbal, their connection could be felt in the hearts of everyone around them. They had much in common; both redheads with fierce determination, proving to the world to never underestimate the spirit and ability of an extraordinary child; often inspiring those around them to be better and to do better.

In honor of Bryleigh, Living Outside The Lines is offering a scholarship program in her name. The scholarship will be awarded to an individual with special needs and/or physical disabilities, who has become a beacon in their community through advocacy, volunteer work, or leadership, and who is graduating from high school in Nova Scotia to pursue secondary education or training within Nova Scotia.

If this is you, please send us an essay (500 to 1000 words) explaining to us how you have impacted your community through advocacy, volunteer work, or leadership. Please include two teacher reference letters, as well as a copy of your acceptance letter into the university or college you will be attending in the fall.
